REGULATING MECHANISM (PIANO ACTION)
Piano action regulation is the art of adjusting moving parts to specifications that make the piano mechanism optimal and efficient to play. A piano action has close to 12,000 parts and are made of wood, felt, leather and metal etc. Wear and tear constantly occurs to all components. Periodically you need to adjust or regulate the piano action (mechanism) into an optimal working order.
Professional Piano Players
Teachers, pianists, composers and students; whether you play Blues, Classical, Jazz, Classical Crossover, Baroque, Contemporary or Impressionist music, everyone preforms with different finger techniques. Therefore, the mechanism must be adjusted to the players requirements. Most new pianos are "factory regulated" to the manufacturers specification. These adjustments change with individual ways of playing in a short time. Regulating is therefore absolutely necessary and it is possible to tailor the action to personal requirements. Regulation should only be done by a special qualified piano technician/builder like Emanuel.
